Keep Seeking, Praying, & Asking
Have you ever been in a time of waiting? A time of being unsure of what God has for you next or what you are to be doing now? Or you have a passion or desire, but there is something hindering the way? Or maybe you have been wronged and feel unheard? Maybe you have felt like giving up? I have felt some of these things lately. It is has been hard. In relaying this to my husband and best friend, Jeremy replied by reminding me of a certain parable. You can read it in Luke 18:1-8. In summary there was a widow who constantly went to an unbelieving and unkind judge with a request for justice in a dispute with her enemy. Many times she came until finally the judge gave her what she asked for because she was persistent. Jesus told his disciples:
Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly!
Jeremy encouraged me to not give up, to not stop asking. The next day I received my monthly devotional in the mail. As I was flipping through it I saw this devotion for June 20. It is labeled Be Steadfast in Prayer – Luke 18:1-8. It was a God moment. A moment of realizing He is still with me, speaking to me, and encouraging me. He has not left me alone, nor forsaken me. He uses His Word to lift me up and uphold me. I am continuing to press forward. I am continuing to ask, persist, and persevere. God is answering me and encouraging me through life’s journey. For those of us who have felt discouraged or disappointed with life circumstances, let us continue together. Let us keep seeking, praying, and asking. Let us be steadfast in prayer, drawing close to Him and relying on Him in faith, knowing He hears us and is for us.
